Functional Practitioners

DR. BENJAMIN KOH

Dr. Koh began his journey towards becoming an orthodontist at the University of Western Ontario, where he received his degree of Honours Specialization in Medical Sciences.

Immediately upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio to study at the prestigious Case Western Reserve University, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree. He graduated in the top 10 of his class and won several awards. Following his passion for orthodontics, he chose to further his education at a two and a half year Orthodontic Residency Program at the University of Colorado in Denver; obtaining his combined Orthodontic Specialty Degree and Masters of Science in Dentistry.

Outside of orthodontics, Dr. Koh loves to stay active by being an avid volleyball, basketball, and badminton player, and pursuing his other passions like cooking, fishing, and travelling. Together, Dr. Koh and his wife live in Fort McMurray and love contributing to the community!

Fun fact: Did you know that he has his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and competed as a collegiate gymnast and cheerleader for the University of Western Ontario Mustang Cheerleading team, notorious for their national win-streak of over 20 years?

Office Manager
Rachel moved to Fort McMurray from Denver, Colorado where she taught elementary students for many years. She is using all that she has learned from her Master’s Degree in Education to help manage the busy office.

Although teaching is very different from working in an office, many of her skills such as organizing and keeping people engaged come in handy for our office. Rachel enjoys hiking, watching movies, spending time with her husband and staying connected with her Bible study group. She feels most successful when she puts a smile on our patients’ faces.

CHARLENE

Office Administrator
Charlene is one of our front office staff. Charlene studied at NSCC, Nova Scotia where she obtained her Office Administration diploma in 1992.

She was born and raised in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, and moved to Fort McMurray in 2012 with her husband and 3 children. Charlene has been with our Fort McMurray team since 2013. She enjoys reading, travelling, cooking, and baking. Her biggest accomplishment in life is her family.

CINDY

Financial Coordinator

Cindy and her family moved from Maryland to Fort McMurray in 2011. With over 35 years of Admin experience, she joined our team in 2023.

Cindy enjoys reading, crocheting and spending time with her husband, kids, and especially her grandkids. She keeps busy by staying involved with the local skating club and teaching the Children’s Sunday School class at church. Lazy days always include her 2 dogs on her lap.

Treatment Coordinator

Trish is our office treatment coordinator and moved here from Ontario. Trish lives in Fort McMurray with her husband and 3 children.

SHELLY

Office Administrator
Shelly is part of the front office staff. In 2013 she received her Health and Safety Administration Certificate through ACSA. She has been on the Fort McMurray team since March of 2015.

She was born in Grandview, Manitoba. Shelly enjoys playing cards, reading, bowling, and taking walks. Over everything, she would choose to spend the day with her granddaughter.

Loretta

Orthodontic Assistant

Originally from Newfoundland, Loretta graduated from Dental Assisting in  1998. She moved to Fort McMurray with her husband and 2 daughters in 2009.

Loretta completed her Orthodontic Module at the U of A in 2019 and has been on our team since then. Loretta values spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys reading, listening to country music, crafting, camping and Starbucks!

AINA

Dental Assistant
Aina is one of our lovely dental assistants in the office. She studied in the Philippines and upgraded her dental assisting at Vancouver Community College in 2007.

She obtained her Orthodontic Module from the University of Alberta in 2012. Aina and her family moved to Fort McMurray in 2008, and she has been on our team since 2011. Aina enjoys working with our younger patients who are the same age as her kids. Aina is very family-oriented and enjoys her Christian group.

Ruta was born in Asmara, Eritrea, East Africa. She is a dedicated mother of two children with over 10 years of experience as a community worker.

Three years ago, she immigrated to Canada, bringing her commitment to helping others to her new home. In her free time, Ruta loves spending quality moments with her family and taking peaceful walks on the beach, enjoying both sunrise and sunset.

Lab Assistant & Sterilization
Josephine is our sterilization and laboratory assistant. She has been on the Fort McMurray team for the past 13 years. She was born and raised in Ireland.

Josephine is a long-time resident of Fort McMurray, where she has raised her four kids. Josephine enjoys Starbucks, dancing, traveling, and watching Coronation Street. Her family, near and far, are very important to her.
